Amazon Aurora PostgreSQL now supports direct querying of Apache Iceberg and Parquet data stored in Amazon S3, without ETL pipelines, AWS announced September 30, 2026. The capability embeds DuckDB, developed by DuckLabs, which recently joined Amazon, directly within Aurora. Queries can join live Aurora transactional data with data lake files in a single PostgreSQL statement. AWS Glue Data Catalog and IRC-compatible external catalogs are supported. Available on Aurora PostgreSQL 17.11 and 18.6 and later, in all commercial and GovCloud regions, at no additional charge beyond incremental compute and S3 request costs, according to AWS.
